About Us
Yes, it’s us again. John & Irene, this time with Rajah, our dog.
In 2000, after years too numerous to mention in the Motor Industry & The Court Service respectively, we decided to work for ourselves and we bought The Rowan Tree Country Hotel, a small, friendly place near Aviemore.
Our past experiences (both bad and good) in Hotels & Guest Houses instilled in us an unshakeable belief in offering informal, friendly service to our guests in comfortable, quality surroundings. Our sole aim was, simply, to bring a smile to our guests' faces and we're thrilled to say that by and large, judging from the comments in our hotel Guest Book, we did just that.
We aim to do the same here at Crubenbeg House and, hopefully, the change of pace will give Irene a bit more time to indulge her passions for walking and skiing, two activities where she has a wealth of experience, primarily in and around this area. (Me? I just trot along faithfully like "Greyfriars Bobby").
My great love (apart from Irene of course!) is Rugby Union, grabbing an hour or two here and there to follow the fortunes of The Leicester Tigers and England.
Irene & I both enjoy falling asleep under a good book at the end of the day and we share a wide interest in music, though we do have different tastes!!
We try to fit in a couple of breaks a year, as we love to travel and Irene needs her annual skiing break – of course!
Rajah, our much-loved Saluki, was liberated from his former life by those nice folks at Grantown Dog Rescue and came to us in September 2000 where he quickly settled in to hotel life.
He has adapted well to his new life here, revelling in the splendid
countryside around the house. He adores our guests, especially those who bring their dogs and volunteer to let him guide them round any of his favourite local walks.
