"How can I describe Crubenbeg House?:-

John's happy smiling face and cheerful personality

The bird gymnasium visible through the Dining Room window at breakfast

Irene's wonderful dinners and dry Scottish wit

The view through the lounge windows, ever changing with the weather

The stimulating conversations round the communal dining table, which confirm the adage that a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet

The energetic walk up the hill behind the House which is rewarded with remarkable views of the surrounding countryside

John's fund of anecdotes and stories, sometimes seemingly implausible, always apparently true.

The less energetic walk through the woods alongside the river below the House, beneficial both before and after breakfast

My personal memories from six successive years of including Crubenbeg House in my annual holiday in Scotland in June:-

The warmth of the welcome the second time I arrived for my first visit – the House was deserted when I arrived an hour earlier and Yes I was expected!

The German couple for whom English is a second language but who can successfully make jokes in English, thus dispelling the rumour that all Germans lack a sense of humour

Raj sprawled asleep on the lounge floor

The pictures in the Dining Room – The Nepali grandmother and the other picture that gives ever changing impressions but cannot be adequately described

A walk along the river bank with a fellow guest and her dog when Raj (who had been entrusted to me) went missing for 5 to 10 minutes – panic!!

Helping Irene to test out a new walk and sheltering briefly in a Bothy during a squall

Being involved at the conception of a new joint venture

Why do I keep coming back?:-

Ideal location, excellent food, stimulating conversation, comfortable accommodation, warmth of welcome
