All in aid of Maggie's Highlands - The Cancer Caring Centre in Inverness.
A Letter from John.
Crubenbeg House.
Hello there.
Thanks for taking a few minutes to read through this very important page on our website.

I know that jumping into space with just a bit of elastic tied round your ankles isn't everybody's idea of a good time.
However, its something that I have "always" wanted to do. Additionally I've only ever been interested in doing it in Queenstown, New Zealand, where A.J. Hackett invented the modern day version of the sport.
2009 was a noteworthy year for us - Irene attained the modest age of 50, whilst, I made it to the ripe old age of only 55 (contrary to popular belief) and we'd been here at Crubenbeg for 5 fun-filled years.
It was Irene's choice of holiday destination for her "Big Birthday" year and she could think of no better way to celebrate than by going Down Under to visit New Zealand for the first time.
Chatting through the New Zealand holiday with friends and guests who've been there, looking for advice on places to go and things to see and do, my ambition to Bungee Jump just kept creeping into the conversation - with reactions ranging from amazement to incredulity!!
(Take a look at the jump I'm doing!)
However, everything had to be put on hold for 12 months when it was discovered that I needed a heart operation, duly completed on 31st October 2009 - successfully, I am pleased to say.
Everything is now re-booked with the Jump itself set for 24th November!! Check out the countdown on our home page!!
On a more positive note, though, a group of our regular guests suggested to me that they'd very much like to see the "Video" and suggested that I should be jumping for charity. If I did, they said they'd be more than willing to sponsor me. As a survivor of Cancer myself, it was easy for me to choose a Charity to jump for - Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres - an organisation founded right here in Scotland and with their Highlands centre at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness too!
Is It Worth It?Last year and this we have held a number of events to raise funds for Maggie's with the unstinting support of friends and guests alike. To date, my efforts are worth over £5000.00, with mote to come.
There have generous donations on my JustGiving page and also by cheque and in cash. Some of our guests generously donated some superb paintings and photographs that have been kindly framed - for free - by another guest. These were successfully auctioned on 28th March this year at a superb event at Anderson's Restaurant in Boat of Garten (Thanks, Steve & Claire, for your generosity.)
We've also still got our second End of Term Party on 29th & 30th October this year, with just one room still available, during which we'll raise even more money if last year's event is anything to go by.
A good friend and regular guest of ours, musician, radio presenter and producer Dan Chisholm is doing something to help. Thanks Dan. Take a look.
If you'd like to help, thanks to you too. You can make your donation here.
My sincere personal thanks to everyone who has kindly & generously helped so far in this endeavour - I, and Maggie's, really do appreciate your generosity.

The aim of "Maggie's" is to keep people who have Cancer as healthy in mind and body as possible, by enabling them to participate actively in the treatment of their disease. They also provide guidance for family & friends, enabling them to cope more ably and to offer better support to the person with Cancer.
