AndersonsWhen you're choosing a Cairngorms B&B or Guest House,  you'll find that not everywhere offers you the option of an evening meal. Even if, like us, they do give you that choice, it is nice to try other places for a change. Also, as we don't usually cook dinner on Monday & Tuesday, or during July & August, it is comforting for you to know that thare's a good selection of eateries nearby.

On your behalf, of course, we've tried most of the local places to eat – a tough job but someone had to do it! Not all the places are open 7 days a week, please ask & we'll let you know. For places marked * it's best to book. We'll happily do that for you.

Newtonmore

The Glen Hotel: Chris & Kim provide good value food in a very nice atmosphere. Choose a table & order at the bar. Check out the Specials Board too!

The Braeriach Hotel: Serves good, honest “Pub Grub” in a friendly atmosphere as does the Balavil Hotel.

The Wild Flour . A cosy, friendly place for a nice cuppa, good home baking & light lunches. In season, Tom & Lucy also offer evening meals on Fridays & Saturdays. You'll need to check availability, somthing we're happy to do for you.

Mehmood's. Newtonmore now also has an excellent takeaway, run by two former members of the team up at The Royal Tandoori in Aviemore. Delightful currys, cracking kebabs and other International Cuisine.

Kingussie

The Cross*: For that really special evening out – top-end dining for which reservations are a must.

Haddock Bay: Great fish & chips, other excellent things too.

The Potting Shed. Well worth the trip to this wonderful emporium not far north of Feshiebridge. Quite simply the best cakes in the area, if not Scotland.

Just 20 mins north in Aviemore, you'll find a wider selection of eateries:

The Druie: (At Rothiemurchus): A super place, reasonable prices, magic coffees, stunning scones and lovely lunches daily.

The Mountain Café: Top place for a coffee, a snack, a sublime cake or lunch.

Active Outdoor Cafe: A hidden gem, usually quieter than the others, with nice lunches, interesting baking and good goffee too.

Happy Haggis: Excellent Fish, Chips & other yummy things.

Royal Tandoori: Simply a superb Indian with a large menu to suit all tastes.

Old Bridge Inn: Quality restaurant-style food in a nice pub-style atmosphere.

Cairngorm Hotel: A good reputation for food both in the bar & restaurant.

The Skiing Doo: We’ve had good reports about this long-established café bar.

La Taverna: Established for over 30 years & counting – a very popular Italian.

35/45 minutes away, Anderson's*, our favourite place for a bite to eat, is in Boat of Garten, well worth the journey.

For more information, please ask us. They are all well worth the trip out.
