Disabled Facilities
We are very fortunate in that the layout of Crubenbeg House has allowed us to create a superb en-suite bedroom facility on the ground floor.
This room, "Pine Marten" offers you the same top class, comfortable accommodation as all our other rooms. It shares the same stunning views across the valley, indeed it also has an additional window affording lovely southerly views and making Pine Marten even lighter and airier too.
The distinguishing feature of this room, though, is that it has also been carefully & sympathetically planned to meet the needs of guests with disabilities and we are proud to say that we have been awarded Category One for offering accessibility to guests right up to unassisted wheelchair status.
On arrival, once you've checked in, you can take advantage of the dedicated parking area just outside the room. From here a gentle ramp takes you up to your separate private entrance on the other side of which is your hallway. This also connects to the internal door through which you have level access to the rest of the house.
Turning right from your entrance, there's the spacious bedroom with plenty of room for a wheelchair to get about. You'll enjoy all the usual features & comforts, of course, and the fact that all the facilities & equipment in the bedroom have been planned & positioned with the needs of disabled guests in mind.
The entrance arch to the bedroom is curtained, offering privacy without the inconvenience of yet another door!
You can choose either a super king bed or twins - either way, they are very comfortable and at the right height too. There are 2 Ercol high-seat fireside chairs right by the windows where you can sit & relax, read, gaze at the scenery or simply doze off.
The wardrobe has been specially partitioned with hanging & shelving at both high & low levels and its wide-opening door gives you easy access. All the sockets & switches in the room are at the required height, and the dresser & mirrors have been carefully positioned too.
T he carpets in the bedroom, hallway & en-suite have been tastefully colour co-ordinated for ease of movement by partially sighted guests and a short trip takes you into your stunning en-suite shower room where you'll find a wash hand basin & dresser (with automatic hairdryer) and a very large power shower cubicle offering full wheelchair access or a special seat, should you need either.
The shower unit itself is at a handy height for both seated & standing guests and there are two poles for the showerhead too, giving you full flexibility to position things, as you need them. There are two towel hooks too - whichever suits you better.
Lastly, the loo itself - it goes without saying that it is the right one too!
Moving back into your hallway and through the internal door takes you into the main hall of the house and, from there through the kitchen to our dining room (we don't mind you seeing behind the scenes!)
We should, however, mention that the design of the house means that the lounge can only be accessed via 4 gentle, small steps. We are more than pleased to offer you any assistance that you need if you choose to sit & relax in the lounge.
Outside, the grounds around the house are all flat, allowing you to easily get to one of the seating areas to enjoy the birds feeding, the plants & shrubs or the stunning scenery. |
