If you’re looking for somewhere to put your feet up in front of the fire, to read, to chat, to write your postcards or daily diary, to sip at a nightcap or simply to relax & doze – look no further. Our splendid Guest Lounge is just the place for you.
Full of character it has an interesting mix of furniture ranging from a large, sumptuous, traditional 3-piece suite to an equally accommodating sofa and a couple of historic chairs from an Edwardian Parlour group.
The views – morning and evening - are to die for and, after a day out and about, what awaits you but soft lights, the smell of the woodsmoke, a good book, good company and a glass or two? We’d suggest you could want for nothing more.
Please note that guests confined to a wheel chair will require assistance – which we’re happy to give – with 4 small steps down into the lounge.
When we bought the house, we’re pleased to say that it came complete with a magnificent antique dining suite. Our VisitScotland Inspector described the beautifully carved dresser as “orgasmic”, the solid oak table, which easily seats up to 10, is equally stunning and the Edwardian dining chairs that match the Parlour Chairs in the lounge, add the finishing touch.
Light & airy, cosy & informal, the dining room is the ideal place to join your fellow guests for breakfast or for dinner, if you’re eating in.
Around the house, you’ll find a good selection of art. We have acquired a complete set of five Artists Proofs by the renowned Scottish painter – JoLoMo –all signed by the man himself. Numerous other pieces are dotted around the walls of the Bedrooms and Guest areas. Almost all are very personal to us and almost all have a wee tale to tell – some of the works really do engender a lot of comment and discussion.
We also have a good collection of artefacts & souvenirs from our holidays as well as some nice ornamental pieces for you to enjoy too. Again, there’s usually a story behind the item, whether it’s the 3 days it took me to buy my piece of Balinese ebony or the time it took the Vietnamese artists to make the egg-shell piece.
We should also not forget Irene’s Teddy Bears. Yes, its true – she is a self-confessed Arctophile and, along with our own collection, we have a number of bears that have been given to Irene by guests from around the world.

In addition to all the above, we have a drying room so that you can start each day without damp clothes and there’s ample secure storage for skis, bikes & other equipment.
There’s plenty of parking too, floodlit for your convenience & security until 11.00pm each evening and, when needed, from 7.00am for the early birds.
If you’re going out for the day and would like a packed lunch, we’re happy to oblige, just let us know what you’d like the night before.
During your stay we’re happy to do light laundry (socks, tee-shirts, underwear etc) in return for a small donation to a local charity. If you need something pressing, an iron & ironing board are available and to make sure you’re looking really smart for that evening out, a shoeshine kit is in the drawer under the TV in your room.
For guests who need to keep in touch, we have free WiFi Internet Access for your laptop and the mobile phone signals are good & strong. However, to avoid disturbing your fellow guests, we do ask that you use your mobile phone and your Laptop only in the privacy of your own bedroom.
