DistilleryJust 6 miles down the road from this Newtonmore Guest House is Dalwhinnie Distillery. Open year round; with shorter hours in the winter, it’s a great chance for you to find out all about “The Water of Life”.

A little further afield you can spend a full day exploring The Speyside Whisky Trail, with its excellent selection of distilleries. Another thing you shouldn’t miss is a tour round The Speyside Cooperage – watching the craftsmen hand making the oak casks in the centuries old traditional way.

You might also want to pop in to the Cairngorm Brewery, an enlightening trip, just up the road in Aviemore
