Finish-in-SightWithin easy reach of Crubenbeg House are 3 magnificent mountain ranges – The Cairngorms, The Monadliaths & the Nevis range. You are spoilt for choice with an excellent selection of Munros, Corbetts & Donalds, all achievable in a comfortable day's outing from here. The interactive map below, will show you just how many there are!

Both in the immediate area and further afield there is also a whole host of very fine, lower level walks, forest trails and short walks (notably The 6-mile Wildcat Trail just up the road in Newtonmore).

The Badenoch Way runs nearby, the spectacular Corrieyairack Pass is just a short drive away and the more challenging Speyside Way starts (or finishes if you prefer) just 20 minutes up the road in Aviemore.

Maps & Stuff.

We're more than happy to provide you with maps, routes and guidance. If you wish, we can also arrange for the services of an experienced guide for the more adventurous walks and for small group or individual tuition in Mountaineering, Winter Skills, Climbing & Ice Climbing.

Drying out and storing your kit at the end of each day is no problem; we have good facilities for both.

Food & Drink.

After your day out walking, it may suit you to dine in, savouring Irene's excellent cooking skills. 5 days a week, from Wednesday to Sunday, except in July & August, she conjures up a splendid, 3-course dinner for our guests.

Additionally, on any evening we're not cooking dinners, for our guests who are walking unsupported to & from Crubenbeg House - on the TGO Challenge or John O'Groats to Lands End, for example,  we are happy to offer an equally delicious light supper, really convenient for you because the pub in Newtonmore is some 4 miles away!! Please ask us about this when you make your booking.

We're also happy to put together a packed lunch for you - we'll chat to you about this when you're here.

Indoors.

If the weather is against you, as it can be from time to time, you can still hone those climbing skills – indoors.

Aviemore now has an excellent facility with climbs for all ages & skill levels at Extreme Dream. Go on, challenge yourself, you know you want to.
