CRUBENBEG HOUSE SPECIAL VALUE BREAKS – AUGUST 2008.
As you will have seen from our Out & About pages, there are a great deal of things to see and to do in this delightful part of the world.
At last, we’ve got a decent bit of sunny weather – the skies are blue, its nice & warm, just the way you’d want it to be.
That said, and here we must be honest, you can get the odd day that’s not so good but, if you are well prepared, there’s nothing to stop you having a really enjoyable & relaxing holiday or short break up here in the beautiful Highlands.
Naturally, we’d like to suggest that you base yourself here at Crubenbeg House? What a Grand Idea!
You will enjoy the glorious views all around us, the peace and quiet of our rural location and, of course, our superb breakfasts. You’ll also find that we’re very well placed to let you get everywhere very easily indeed.
Ben Nevis, Loch Ness, Culloden, the Whisky Trail, Walks, Cycle Tracks, The Wildlife Park, The Folk Museum to name but a few – all are within easy reach by car from Crubenbeg.
We’re delighted to be able to say that, at the time of writing, our bookings for August are looking really good, with the majority of dates in the month already fully booked.
All is not lost however, as we do still have some availability for an odd night or two, here and there through the month that may suit what you are looking for. However, we may need to ask you for a bit of flexibility on your dates if we are to have the pleasure of your company.
In return, we’d like to offer you a little something by way of a thank you for helping us fill our last few available spaces. (our wee “Stock Clearance Summer Sale”, if you like.)

(And one in 2009!!)
For 2008, we still have some availability on our Low Level Walking Weekend and Painting with Watercolours. We’ve also included advanced notice of our Cookery Weekend for 2009.
If you are interested and would like to book, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Please e-mail or give us a call.
Details of the breaks are as follows – please scroll down the page.
All our Breaks get underway on the Friday evening and end early to mid-afternoon on the Sunday. The dates shown for each break are the dates of the Friday & Saturday nights that you’ll be with us.
AROUND BADENOCH – GENTLE, PEACEFUL, AUTUMN WALKS – 26TH/27TH SEPTEMBER 2008.
NEW DATE ADDED – 3RD/4TH October 2008.
(Sorry, fully booked for the earlier, original dates but 1 room still available for the new dates).
We’ve had a lot of requests to provide a Break for folk who prefer good, interesting walks that don’t involve too much by way of ascent & descent. Our 2007 Break was so popular, we had to run two -and we’ve had to add a second weekend this year too!!
As you know, the hills and glens around Crubenbeg offer ample opportunities to do just that, getting off the beaten track to enjoy the stunning scenery and the peace & quiet –right on our doorstep.
At around 6.00pm on Friday evening, we’ll take a gentle stroll exploring our local tracks for an hour or so before returning for supper. Saturday will take us to a very hidden, quiet side of Loch Laggan for an inspiring walk of 4.5 to 5 hours. On Sunday morning, to round off your weekend, there will be a 2.5 to 3 hour walk before returning to Crubenbeg, then homewards.
“WATERCOLOURS” – ADVANCED TECHNIQUES – 10TH/11TH OCTOBER 2008
(Just one room still available)
The weekend is timed to take advantage of the atmosphere & subtleties of our Autumnal weather & landscapes, but well before the clocks go back. May’s second course this year will be focussing on some of the Advanced Watercolour Techniques for painters with some experience already. She’ll be looking at such subjects as transparency, layering and delivering expression and emotion though the use of colour.
Again, though, the workshop is planned to be very relaxed, utilising the palette of Autumnal colours and textures of the stunning & varied landscapes around the house. With May’s support you’ll get a newfound confidence to move your techniques forwards.
Things will get underway on the Friday evening with an introductory session at 6.00pm, followed by supper at 7.30/8.00pm. There are the 2 sessions on Saturday and a formal session on Sunday morning, allowing you a timely departure just after lunch. May will be providing all the materials for the weekend so all you’ll need to bring will be your easel, your stool, your beret, your smock and, of course, yourself.
IRENE’S COOKERY WEEKEND – 5th/6th DECEMBER 2008.
(Sorry, but we’re already fully booked for 2008)
Our Cookery Weekend 2009 will be on 11th & 12th December.
If you’d like to book now, you can enjoy 2008 rates!!
(Two rooms still available)
Our Cookery Breaks have proven very popular indeed we’re pleased to say, so much so that our Break for 2008 was fully booked over 12 months in advance.
Once again, Irene will be looking to show you how to prepare & cook some super dishes with which you can amaze your friends and family, without having to spend hours in the heat of the kitchen.
She’ll cover Starters, Main Courses and Desserts plus a few “Tricks of the Trade”, worth their weight in gold. John chips in with short sessions on napkin folding and food presentation – his areas of expertise!
On Friday evening you’ll enjoy a relaxing supper (which you’ll have helped to cook!) There are three working sessions, two on Saturday, one on Sunday morning, with you taking your leave of us after lunch. You will be “hands on” in the kitchen, and you get to enjoy the fruits of your labours round the Dining Room table on the Saturday evening and Sunday lunchtime!! Mmmmmm.
For all the Weekends, non-participating partners are most welcome.
THEMED WEEKENDS - TARIFFS.
Our prices for Themed Weekends are per person, sharing & include 2 night’s Bed & Breakfast, plus lunches and evening meals as specified. We welcome single guests too, please contact us to ask for prices. If you’d like to arrive earlier or stay later, we’d be delighted, your extra day can be on either a Dinner, B&B or B&B basis to suit you, except for the Walking Weekends where tradition now dictates that we all go out for a meal in a local restaurant on the Sunday evening!
