Newtonmore is incredibly convenient for snowboarders and skiers as it is ideally situated in the middle of two ski areas. This allows snow enthusiasts to make the most of every challenge, run and route in the Scottish Highlands, while enjoying rest and relaxation in Newtonmore.
In 45 minutes, guests can enjoy Scotland’s premier ski resort in the Cairngorms, while an hour away there is the Nevis range, which is a smaller location with pretty scenery. For beginners, there is the Lecht Ski area too which is just an hour away from your cosy accommodation at Crubenbeg Country House.
As skiing in Scotland is continuing to grow in popularity, there has never been a better time to head to the Scottish slopes. With snow typically arriving in early December and leaving in mid-April, there is plenty of time for visitors to enjoy the snowy mountains.
Cairngorm is the largest ski area in Scotland and has an incredibly convenient Cairngorm Funicular Railway to get you to the top of the slopes with ease and enjoyment. Cairngorm offers ski lessons, tuition and equipment hire to make your snow sports trip as stress-free as possible. With a range of routes, the ski area caters for all standards and abilities.
The Nevis range is a small ski resort but has a useful cable car uplift to get you to the top of the peaks with ease so you can sit back and look forward to your descent.
As well as the ski locations, visitors can also enjoy ski touring. There is a route close to Crubenbeg Country House that begins on the Kingussie High Street and takes you to the summits in the Monaliaths. You can then ski back down into the village with cross-country ski equipment. This route will typically take around five hours to complete.
